Ethics & Social Media Statement

Ethics & Social Media Statement

As a doctoral-level psychology trainee, educator, mental health professional, and wellness practitioner, I hold myself to high standards of ethical conduct, both offline and online. My digital presence is an extension of my professional values and is guided by principles set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA) Code of Ethics and the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) Social Media Task Force.

Professional Conduct Online

  • I aim to be respectful, timely, and intentional in all public communication, including posts, comments, and shared media.
  • I will never use social media to offer clinical advice or therapeutic services, nor will I engage in personal discussions about client matters online.
  • I strive to accurately represent my credentials, competencies, and affiliations, and I will correct any misinformation related to my presence when needed.
  • While I may share content that promotes emotional well-being, self-awareness, education, and healing, it is not a substitute for therapy.

Boundaries & Client Privacy

  • I do not engage with current or former clients via personal or professional social media platforms in order to maintain appropriate boundaries and protect your confidentiality.
  • If an accidental connection is made, I will respectfully remove it and address the matter if needed during our in-person or virtual time together.
  • I will never use web searches or social platforms to gather information about clients or potential clients without their explicit consent.

Transparency & Digital Presence

  • You may encounter my professional work or educational content across platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, or via my website). These are intended for public education, awareness, and collaboration only.
  • If you find content about me online, positive or negative, I encourage open dialogue during our time together if it has any bearing on our work or your perception of care.
  • For your protection, I advise against posting reviews or public feedback during the course of services, as doing so could unintentionally reveal private or identifying information.

If You’re Exploring My Content

I welcome you to engage with my public-facing work and mental health-related content via my website or professional pages. These platforms exist to educate, inspire, and empower, not to replace therapy or act as a clinical service. Engaging in the content does not equate a professional therapeutic relationship. If you’re seeking therapeutic support, I encourage you to connect with a licensed professional in your area.

If you have any questions about this policy or how I maintain boundaries in digital spaces, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly via email.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require immediate support, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988 (available 24/7 in the United States).
